One of the main benefits of Chamber membership is being part of an independant, non party-political business network that can influence Government and other decision-makers and opinion formers at local, regional and national level.

To enhance its representational activities and to improve communication with its membership, the Chamber's interactive Web site is used as a vehicle for most representational issues affecting the Chamber as a whole, whether originating from the BCC, NWCC, other public or private bodies or from individual companies.

The work being undertaken through the Business Focus Group will also provide a useful source for future lobbying activity.

In this way the Chamber will be able to lobby on behalf of its members on matters affecting the future economic prosperity of the area and play a more proactive role in shaping local economic development strategy and in formulating and implementing those aspects of the Borough Plan which are relevant to business.

The Chamber is already represented on some of the Working Groups within the Boroughs Local Strategic Partnership (Borough Forum).
